## Why PulseSpeed exists

PulseSpeed started in 2026 from a simple frustration: virtually every speed test measures one big number — your download speed — while that number almost never explains why your internet feels slow. Stuttering video calls, lag while gaming, a connection that sags every evening: those are problems of latency, jitter, packet loss and bufferbloat. We build measurement tools that make that real quality visible, free for everyone.

## What makes us different

Our speed test measures bufferbloat by default — the extra delay that appears once your line is loaded, and the main cause of 'fast internet that feels slow'. Our stability test follows your connection for five minutes, second by second, revealing patterns no short test can show. And our Video Call Test simulates a real video call with simultaneous two-way traffic — a measurement you will not find anywhere else. In the knowledge base we explain in plain language what the numbers mean and what you can do about them.

## How we handle your data

Test results are stored exclusively in your own browser and never leave your device. We use no tracking cookies, no fingerprinting, and we do not store measurement results or IP addresses on our servers. The full measurement method is publicly documented on our methodology page — a speed test you cannot verify is a speed test you cannot trust.

## How this site is funded

PulseSpeed is free and will stay that way. The site is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. Ads never influence your measurement results and run completely separate from the measurement infrastructure.
